Welcome to the Diocese of Argyll & the Isles
Latest Phase in the Diocesan Structures Consultation
20 September 2026
The Bishops of Scotland have begun the next phase of their consultation on the diocesan structures and have written a letter which can be found on our Diocesan Structures page.
Bishop Brian has written an accompanying message to help us consider how best to take part in the next phase of this consultation which can be found at the same link.
Both are very important documents so please read them carefully and prayerfully.
Welcome Message from Bishop Brian McGee
Welcome Message from Bishop Brian McGee

Welcome and thank you for visiting our diocesan website. Argyll and the Isles, situated in the Western Highlands and Islands of Scotland, must be one of the most beautiful dioceses in the world. Its remoteness and culture certainly makes us unique in Europe.
However, most importantly, we are an ancient Church. The Catholic faith was first brought to us during the 6th Century and the most important missionary is our Patron, Saint Columba. There have been various challenges since them but faith in God in still treasured by many within our communities. We strive to discern God’s will and witness to his love.
I hope that you enjoy visiting our website and if you do not live locally I hope that you will visit us soon!
Yours in Christ,
+Brian
