LOUDfence - Ribbons of Hope
LOUDfence is an initiative to show support for victims of abuse, wherever it occurs. It was held at St Columba's Cathedral in Oban in August 2024 and began with Sunday Mass celebrated by Bishop Brian McGee. Then for two days townspeople and tourists could write and attach messages of support for victims of abuse to a fence erected outside the Cathedral.
It was public and many people stopped to engage with our diocesan volunteers. The initiative was an outreach by the Diocese of Argyll & the Isles towards survivors of abuse, wherever it had been perpetrated.
This has been the only LOUDfence in Scotland to date. Click here to learn more about the LOUDfence movement.

Ribbons of Hope Hymn
The music and words of 'Ribbons of Hope' have been specially written by Peter Rose and his colleague Anne Conlon to accompany our LOUDfence event and it is sung by Clare Reynolds, all parishioners of St Margaret's parish in Roy Bridge.
