What does frankincense symbolize?
On the feast of the Epiphany, we remember the gifts the three wise men brought to Jesus! What does frankincense symbolize? The gift of frankincense is said to have been an acknowledgement of Jesus’ priesthood, setting him apart from a typical king.
“Being a priest is not a job or fulfilling an employment contract but is a gift from God that should be contemplated and treasured as such,” Pope Francis said.
