Welcome to our Papal Nuncio

Welcome to our Papal Nuncio

Last night we welcomed the Papal Nuncio, Archbishop Claudio Gugerotti, to our diocese. We are delighted that in his first visit to Scotland the Pope’s representative came to Argyll and the Isles as we celebrate the Feast of St Columba, 1,500 years after his birth.

On the anniversary of the dedication of our Cathedral the bishops of Scotland gathered together for the first time since the start of the pandemic. The young people from St Columba’s Primary and Oban High Schools read beautifully in Gaelic and English. The congregation delighted in being able to sing again. It was a lovely and hope filled occasion. The Mass will be shown tonight on beingcatholic.org at 7.30pm.

Today the bishops go on pilgrimage to Iona during which they will celebrate Mass in the Abbey.
