United in Prayer

United in Prayer

It has been floating in the air for some time; we are virtually there, but we want to remain virtual. I am referring to the Anti Covid 19 daily prayer campaign. Are you interested? The campaign has no author nor owner. It will be shared virtually by all who wish to promote it. The initial idea (till more ideas are shared)is to have a daily session lasting about five minutes: a short bible reading, a reflection and a prayer but nothing is written in stone except that it should not be much longer. Those who administer Social Medium platforms and/or on-line devices should register their interest and their willingness to make a contribution. Hopefully, the response will be such that we can arrange contributions for the first month with each group or individual contributing 2/3 days.

The intention of the prayer is to bolster our spirit threatened by Covid 19 crisis and once that crisis is over that we should pray and proclaim the values which we want to see in the post Covid society. God loves his people, the world he created and will accompany us from day today.

Process; launch the campaign on Facebook; Contact all known on-line users to stimulate interest and to engage them as authors/ contributors.

Organise contributors for the first month and project beyond this initial stage

A general evaluation at the end of the first month.

Model Presentation:

Bible Reading: Lk. 1, 67-79

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, he has visited his people and redeemed hem.

He has raised up for us a mighty saviour in the house of David his servant,

As he promised by the lips of holy men, those who would free us from our foes, from the hands of all who hate us.

So his love for our fathers is fulfilled and his holy covenant remembered.

He swore to Abraham our father to grant us, that free from fear, and saved from the hands of our foes,

We might serve him in holiness and justice all the days of our live in his presence.

As for you little child, you shall be called a prophet of God, the Most High.

You shall go ahead of the Lord to prepare his ways before him,

To make known to his people their salvation through forgiveness of all their sins,

The loving-kindness of the heart of our God, who visits us like the dawn from on high.

He will give light to those in darkness, those who dwell in the shadow of death and guide us into the way of peace.

Reflection: In times of crisis God comes to the rescue of his people. The human race is his family on earth, and we are in great need. There is much darkness in our world, and we need great light so as to have hope and confidence of a better future when peace, truth and justice are enjoyed by all.

Prayer: We praise you God as our Father in heaven.

We open our hearts to Jesus who, for love of us, has shared our human life.

Covid 19 threatens human life. Help us to overcome it,

We commit ourselves to be your loving family here on earth.

Laity are so often ignored in our churches, so I wish to put this campaign into their hands just requesting priests and ministers to encourage the participation of the laity. Prayer will bring us together because we are all Christians, of Christ. In April, we ask that there should be a register of participation in order to launch the Campaign in May. God’s blessings.
