Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul

Dear brothers and sisters,
Happy Feast day as we honour St Peter and St Paul – the two great pillars of the early Church. Peter and Paul certainly had their limitations, but they fulfilled God’s Will by cooperating with the Holy Spirit. Peter was commissioned by Jesus to lead the young flock while Paul became a fruitful missionary whose letters form a significant part of the New Testament. Although both men were imprisoned and martyred in Rome the Good News that they preached could not be silenced. Let us pray for the Church today, for Peter’s Successor Pope Francis, for missionaries and for all who are persecuted for their Faith.
