Sacrificing for the Common Good
With the new restrictions announced by both the UK and Scottish Governments, all Churches are now closed until further notice. Baptisms and Weddings are suspended. Funerals will be celebrated at the graveside with only the immediate family attending.
I appreciate that abiding by these measures will be difficult for us all. As Catholics, we take comfort by being able to spend time before the Blessed Sacrament. However, it is also true that God is everywhere and lives within us. He will not abandon us but is close to us in our time of need. The sacrifices that are asked of us are for the common good. The Lord knows this and has His own ways of consoling us.
Let us continue to pray for each other,
