Resumption of Public Mass
I am delighted to inform you that from Wednesday 15th July Mass will again be celebrated in public in our diocese and throughout Scotland. Not all parishes may be ready to begin at the same time and your parish priest will inform you regarding local arrangements. I thank our priests and parishioners for all the sacrifices made since March for the health of others. I am also grateful for the careful preparation taken for the safe reopening of our Churches for private prayer and now for communal worship.
The Eucharist lies at the heart of our Catholic Faith. That you can again participate physically at Mass and receive Holy Communion will bring you great joy and many blessings. I appreciate that many people will still be nervous and therefore I remind you that the obligation to attend Sunday Mass remains suspended. For those unsure about venturing outside I will continue, for now, to live stream Mass at 10am.
Today we celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Aberdeen. This morning’s Gospel related that, from the Cross, Jesus entrusted us to his Mother’s care. As we move towards the resumption of public Mass we thank our Blessed Mother for sustaining us and seek her continuing protection as society increasingly reopens.
May God bless you and all dear to you,
+Brian
