Presentation of the Benemerenti Medal to Rodina MacIsaac

It was a great joy to begin my pastoral visit of Eriskay and Daliburgh by presenting Dinag MacIsaac with the Benerementi Award from Pope Francis in Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Garrynamonie. Dinag has served her parish faithfully for 80 years and still looks after the sacristy and altar flowers.

We celebrated on the feast of St Joseph the Worker. St Joseph said ‘yes’ to God and through his work – loving, protecting and providing for Jesus and Mary – he cooperated with God’s plans in a way he could never have imagined. The same can be true for us today. I would like to thank everyone up and down our diocese who by your work – your daily deeds of love and service – build up the human family and so cooperate with God’s plans for us all.
