Pilgrimage to Celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the Moidart Mission

Bishop Brian invites you to join him on Tuesday 6th August for a one day pilgrimage to Moidart, in celebration of the foundation of its Mission 250 years ago. St Finnan, a monk of Iona, had originally brought Christianity to the area, founding a monastery on Loch Shiel (St Finnan’s Isle). At the Reformation Catholicism was banned throughout Scotland although the Moidart people remained Catholic, supported by intermittent missionaries. After the appointment of Fr Austin MacDonald in 1769 three concealed Churches and a secret seminary were built!

Please join us as we thank God for the deep faith of those who have gone before us and pray for all disciples today. Bring suitable clothing and a packed lunch. There are toilets at Glenuig and Mingarry. Feel free to join us for all or part of the pilgrimage.
