Ordination to the Diaconate of Philip Bua

Philip Ortavershima BUA

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

This is a joyful week for our diocese. Philip Bua will be ordained as a deacon this Thursday, 10th June by Cardinal James Michael Harvey, at the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls in Rome.

Please pray for Philip as he prepares to offer his life to the Lord who is calling him to serve us here in Argyll and the Isles. Unfortunately, it is not possible for anyone from Scotland to travel for the ordination but thankfully Sr Placida McCann, whom Philip worked with in Kenya and who made the initial approach to our diocese on Philip’s behalf, will be present as she is now working in the Scots College.

Over the next few days we celebrate St Columba’s Feast Day during the 1500th anniversary of his birth and we are visited by the Papal Nuncio but we will also have a new deacon! God is greatly blessing us these days! We look forward to welcoming Philip home soon.

Next summer Philip, a parishioner of St Peter’s in Daliburgh, will be ordained as a priest for Argyll and the Isles.

Please pray for Philip, our deacons and priests and for all whom God is calling to serve in the priesthood and religious life.

May you always know that the Good Shepherd is close to you and your families,

+Brian
