Ordination of Rev. Philip Ortavershima Bua
Dear sisters and brothers in Christ,
It is my joy to invite you to the Ordination to the Priesthood of Rev Philip Bua in St Columba’s Cathedral, Oban on Tuesday 21st June at 7pm. Many of you will already know Philip from his placements throughout Argyll and the Isles. Originally from Nigeria Philip has lived in our diocese for over 5 years where he has been a parishioner of St Peter’s, Daliburgh. Philip chose 21st June because it is the Feast day of St Aloysius who, dying young when caring for people with incurable illnesses, became the Patron Saint of AIDS patients and their carers. I first met Philip ten years ago when we both volunteered in a Kenyan HIV/AIDS clinic.
Philip continues to have a great love for the young and a joyful care for the sick. He will be a great addition to our diocese. Please keep Philip in your prayers as he prepares for his Ordination after which he will spend his life serving God in Argyll and the Isles.
Our newly ordained priest will offer a Mass of Thanksgiving in the Cathedral the following morning at 10am to which all are also invited.
