Honouring Our Lady of Fatima in St. Columba’s Cathedral

As part of the celebration in Scotland of the centenary of the Marian apparitions in Fatima, Portugal a special statue of Our Lady of Fatima is touring Scotland to help Catholics take advantage of the plenary indulgence the Pope has offered for the centenary. The statue is visiting each of the eight cathedrals of Scotland between May and October. On Thursday 13 July, the anniversary of the 3rd Message of Fatima, the statue of Our Lady of Fatima was welcomed into St. Columba’s Cathedral, Oban by parishioners and visitors from Scotland and abroad. Bishop Brian McGee led the congregation in a prayer service which included readings from Scripture, a homily on the spiritual significance of the Message of Fatima, recitation of the Mysteries of Light of the rosary and prayers for the Church and the world. The statue will remain in the Cathedral for a few days before being taken to the Hebridean islands of Barra and Eriskay.
