Primaries 6 and 7 at St. Columba’s RC Primary School in Fort William are working on their Pope Francis Faith Awards programme.

Recently the children have been showing their faith in action by organising a collection of food items for the local Food Bank in Fort William.

Their theme has been “Helping to Feed People in Need”.

Over three weeks the children have collected enough food to provide over 200 meals for people in need.

Mr. Alex McConnachie, a volunteer worker at Lochaber Food Bank came in to the school to talk to the children about the service provided by the organisation. He answered lots of questions, and has invited the children to visit the Food Bank to see the team of volunteers in action.

The pupils are delighted with the overwhelming response to their appeal for food donations, and will continue helping others during Lent.
