Bishop Brian’s Message during his Pastoral Visit to the Western Isles

The Sacrament of Confirmation in Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, Benbecula.

Dear sisters and brothers in Christ,

Greetings from the beautiful Western Isles! I am sitting at the pier on Eriskay waiting to catch the ferry over to Barra for the conclusion of my pastoral visit of St Michael’s Deanery. Over ten days I will have celebrated Mass in all seven parishes, celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation six times, and visited schools, homes, and the sick. I have greatly enjoyed experiencing the kindness and warmth of both clergy and lay faithful, and have been inspired by the faith of countless people of all ages and backgrounds. The Spirit of God still breathes new life! I have also appreciated listening to people’s insights about our Synodal Process, and I look forward to studying your submissions.

Over the next three months, I will be visiting every other parish, and I look forward to worshiping and spending time with many other people throughout our great Diocese of Argyll and the Isles.

God bless you and your families,
