Bishop Brian visit to South Uist and Eriskay
Faith as a natural part of family and community life is still strong here.
Dear sisters and brothers in Christ,
This morning I continue on to Benbecula after having spent four days in South Uist. I have enjoyed praying with people, spending time with the clergy and parishioners (receiving much hospitality) including visiting the schools, appreciating the unique culture here as well as the beauty of Creation while listening to the struggles and joys of island life. Last night I confirmed 7 children from Eriskay and Daliburgh parishes in Garrynamonie Church followed by a lovely celebration in St Peter’s Hall. Faith as a natural part of family and community life is still strong here. I thank God and our people for that but let’s not take it for granted but continue to build on it.
Earlier the beautiful uniqueness of our diocese was symbolised by the munching Eriskay ponies at St Michael’s Church!
This Eastertide may the Spirit renew us all.
