"Words cannot describe this remarkable experience..."

“Rooted in Christ, firm in the faith,” with these words from St Paul to the Colossians, Pope Benedict invited the Catholic Youth to join him in Madrid in 2011 for the 26th world Youth Pilgrimage. They came to pray together and to deepen their belief in Christ: and come they did….. in their thousands and tens of thousands!
Around 2 million young Catholics and other Christians descended on Madrid from all over the globe. They came to pray, to hear the Successor of St Peter preach the Good News of Jesus Christ; a message of faith, hope and joy. Groups of young people and priests made the journey from across England and Scotland, from Arisaig two teenagers went to join the group from Argyll and the Isles. Their reflections give us a taste of their experience.

I am so excited at being given the opportunity to assist the young people of Argyll and the Isles on their faith journey. I feel extremely honoured that I will head up this work. I will be relying on the good people already in contact with the youth; parish priests, parents, grandparents, teachers, and all who play a part in the lives of the young people.
