There was a warm welcome in Oban for a group of Carmelite Sisters from Dysart, four of them originally members of the  town's Carmelite Monastery which closed in 2002.

Diaconate Ordination

On 30th May David Connor was ordained deacon by Rt. Rev. Bishop Joseph Toal at St. Patrick's College, Maynooth.

Bishop Joseph met Pope Benedict XVI during the recent visit of the Scottish Bishops to Rome.

On Tuesday 17 November Bishop Joseph Toal confirmed 13 young members of St. Columba's Cathedral Parish, Oban.

A Life Worth Living

The hill-top church of St. Michael's Eriskay, with its breath-taking views of sea and sky, was an ideal setting for the ceremony of the perpetual profession of Sister Mary Cathie MacInnes which took place on September 27th 2009. 
The church in Arisaig was full to capacity when the parish celebrated its 160th anniversary and welcomed two new Catholics into the community.

Centenary Celebration Mass

St. Mary's Church, Fort William, was filled for the Celebration Mass to mark  the centenary of the death of Blessed Mary MacKillop, foundress of the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Sacred Heart.

Arisaig welcomes Sr. Maria Edith

Family connections with the Arisaig area were renewed on 7 August 2009 when Anne Renfrew made her Perpetual Vows as a Hermit of the Diocese of Argyll & the Isles.

Congratulations, Emma!

Emma MacDougall of Oban represented the West of Scotland at the recent Special Olympics Summer Games in Leicester and won two bronze medals with her horse, Lady.
