The diocese was founded in 1878 and extends from the parish of Campbeltown and the Isle of Arran in the south to the parish of Stornoway, Isle of Lewis in the north. It includes the Isles of the Hebrides and most of Argyll and Bute. There are an estimated 10,000 Catholics in the 26 parishes of the diocese.

This website is a work in progress. Our aim is to provide news and information for those at home and abroad and to creat a forum for the exchange of ideas and experience.

Episcopal Ordination

Bishop-elect Joseph Toal will be ordained Bishop of Argyll & the Isles in St. Columba's Cathedral, Oban at 6pm on Monday 8 December 2008,

There will be a reception afterwards in the Argyllshire Gathering Hall.
