The annual Fishermen's Mass took place on the Isle of Barra on 13 July 2008. Over 1000 people took part and the newly formed Barra Pipe Band started and concluded the celebration.
Fr. Michael Hutson sang the Mass and the homily was given by Canon Angus MacQueen. Children from various parts of the island participated as altar servers and in leading the Prayer of the Faithful.
At the end of Mass all the fishing boats of Barra and Vatersay were blessed by Fr. Hutson and Canon MacQueen.
Over 1000 people took part in the recent Fishermen's Mass and Blessing of the Boats on the Isle of Barra.
